Art

The aim of the art department is to help children become confident artists who have learned to look and appreciate and are able to take creative risks.

The children develop skills, learn techniques and exercise their imagination through using a range of materials and media. They have opportunities to work independently, developing their own ideas, and also to work in groups, planning, sharing and co-operating. Art days, visiting artists and trips to galleries help enhance the art curriculum and inspire children to explore, experiment and create outside the art room.

There are plenty of opportunities for the students to show off their talents at the annual Barfield Art Show, the Farnham Festival, the Farnham Schools Art Exhibition at SIAD (Surrey Institute of Art and Design) and at the Prep Schools Art Exhibition at Seaford. There are very few times during the week when the art room is empty; even at break-times and evenings, activity is taking place.
