- Text: historical stories, instructions, discussion texts, poems and play scripts
- Comprehension and creative writing will be based on the above genre of texts
- Class readers: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by CS Lewis
- Personal reading will be monitored
- Sentence – revising verb tenses and using powerful verbs, adverbs, commas and connectives
- Word – Violet Brand Spelling Made Easy, homophones, suffixes
Mathematics
- Number – Addition/subtraction. Mental calculations. Odd/even. Place value.
- Estimation. Order / sequence. Brackets. Multiples / factors. Fractions. 12 and 24 hour
- Time. Weekly tables tests.
- Problem Solving – Worded problems. Money and ‘real life’ tasks. Number puzzles.
- Shape/Space and measurement – 2D and 3D shapes. Vertices, edges and faces. Line
- Symmetry.
- Handling data – distance charts, train timetables, pictographs, tally charts and flow charts.
Science
- Safety Rules – How to behave in the laboratory. Location of equipment. Experimental techniques.
- Keeping warm – Use of thermometers and scales. Body temperature. Insulation and conduction of heat..
- Friction – Forces between a body and the surface. Energy changes involved.
- Solids and liquids –. Behaviour and appearance of Solids / liquids including flow.

French
- Houses, furniture, mealtimes, family, animals, adjectival agreement.
History
- Anglo Saxons (& Vikings) – Who they were, where did they come from.
Settlements/lifestyle. Religion. Myths.
Geography
- Improving the Environment – Survey of school and local environments. Rubbish and litter – conduct litter survey of school grounds. Recycling waste. Saving energy, noise pollution and improving the environment.
- Village settlers – early villages. Rosedale / Abbey villages. How they grow.
- Global knowledge – studying Great Britain through maps e.g. relief, political and road maps. Studying maps on different scales.
Religious Education

Information and Communication Technology
- Writing for different audiences – Editing text, spell checking, finding/replacing, making pages look interesting.
- Making pictures with patterns – copying and pasting, making pictures with dots, flipping and rotating, saving.
Music
- Regular singing and ear training lessons including preparation for the Carol Service.
- Performing skills: Recorder playing.
- Listening skills: String and Woodwind sections of the orchestra. The Young Persons Guide to the Orchestra by Benjamin Britten.
Physical Education
