Reception

Reception children follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and have access to a wide range of experiences. We encourage children to be independent, to be interested in the world, to ask questions and most importantly to have fun.

Some of the topics which we cover include Celebrations, Dinosaurs, and Growth and Change. Children continue to build on their Phonological Awareness, by following the ‘Jolly Phonics’ programme. They progress on to the wide range of books from our extensive reading scheme.

We emphasise learning through play and are able to target each child’s needs individually due to our small class sizes.

Children visit the school's purpose-built Library and ICT suite each week. They are taught by a specialist swimming and P.E. teacher. They also have weekly music and movement sessions.
