Reporting to parents
Barfield is keen to keep parents informed of their child's progress at school and we do this in a variety of ways throughout the school year.
Children from Years 3 to 8 receive regular Grades from all their subject teachers. Here you will see how your child has been graded from A - E for effort and performance in every subject of their curriculum. There is also information on the grades sheets to inform you how many absences, late attendences, plus points, conduct points and demerits your child has received over the grades period.
We host annual parents' evenings for all pupils from Owlets through to Year 8. This is a forum for you to discuss your child's work and his/her progress, as well as being a welcome opportunity to meet and socialise with our staff.
At the end of the Autumn and Summer Term each pupil from Owlets to Year 8 receives a report which contains a curriculum statement and the teacher's comments for each subject. Where appropriate, these will include examination percentages. A report from the Form Tutor and Headmaster/Head of Prep-Prep are included to give a holistic overview of your child's personal, social and individual development here at Barfield.
Barfield runs a friendly open-door policy; hence you are welcome to make additional teacher interview appointments with members of staff, should you be unable to attend a parents' evening or wish to discuss an academic or pastoral issue in greater depth.
Staff are available at the start and end of the day, for any impromptu queries you may have.
