A Typical Day At Barfield

Barfield recognises the fact that many of us lead busy lives and, as a result, our day is a flexible one, which allows for the unexpected need to drop off pupils early or pick them up later than the average school day.

All pupils are able to join us from 8.00am - Pre-Prep children will go to a designated classroom for supervised play until registration when they are led to their appropriate classes and while older pupils congregate in the Hall, where they are supervised until being dismissed for registration in their own classrooms at 8.25am. However children in Years 3 and 4 may go directly to their classrooms from 8.15am.

Owlets finish their day at 12.45pm, having had their lunch with us, and are available for collection from their classroom. Should you be delayed, the children would be taken out to play until you arrived.

Children in Owls may finish after lunch at 1.00pm, however as the year progresses, they are increasingly encouraged to stay until 3.30pm.

The remaining Pre-Prep children finish their school day at 3.30pm, but are welcome to stay until 4.10pm and to a further 'Great Lates' session which runs, at a small fee, from 4.10pm until 6.00pm. There is also a window of opportunity for the Year 2 children to attend a quiet prep session from 3.30pm - 4.00pm.

Children in Years 3 - 8 finish lessons at 4.10pm. Year 3s may be collected from their classrooms and Years 4 - 8 from the Hall.

The children are encouraged to stay for prep which runs from 4.30pm - 5.30pm. This is a supervised quiet hour, which takes place after a drink and biscuit in classrooms under the supervision of staff.

We offer suppers, from Monday to Thursday, where children and staff eat together from 5.30pm until 6.00pm. There is an additional fee of £4.50 for supper which would be added to your school account at the end of the relevant term.

A variety of clubs runs from Monday to Thursday from 6.00pm to 7.00pm with additional events, concerts, plays and activities running as per the School calendar.

All pupils are collected from the Hall, but should you be delayed, or have to alter your plans unexpectedly, please ring the school office to let us know your situation so that we may advise staff accordingly and let your child know his/her plans for the day.
